What is the Position?              

Location: Gorey, Co. Wexford

Contract Type: 36-Hour Specified Purpose Contract

We are seeking dedicated and responsible individuals to apply for the role of Van Driver. This position involves ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of a client who uses a van adapted for their wheelchair from their home to college and various events within Co. Wexford, three days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport the client to college and various locations in Co. Wexford, ensuring timely and secure travel.
  • Record and report any hazards, accidents, or potential incidents to the Nurse Manager.
  • Ensuring the vehicle’s roadworthiness, cleanliness, and ensure necessary repairs in consultation with the Manager and the client.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety standards, ensuring the client is securely clamped and seat belts are in place.
  • Provide assistance to the client when boarding and alighting the vehicle using appropriate lifting techniques.
  • Ensure client satisfaction throughout the transportation process.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Desirable: Disability awareness and experience in transporting clients with limited mobility who use a wheelchair.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant driving experience.
  • Patient moving and handling skills required; training will be provided if necessary.

Remuneration & Benefits:

  • Hourly rate: €14.23 to €15.82, depending on experience.
