Prader Willi Syndrome Support

Social Care has opened a new residential service with a completely unique approach to supporting people with Prader Willi Syndrome.

PWS is a complex, multisystem genetic disorder, with symptoms including developmental delays, behavioural problems, life-long hyperphagia and physical problems that impact health. Situated in Enniscorthy, Wexford, our service offers residents independent living in their own apartments – combining a personal home-from-home environment with specialist support.

The service is run by an experienced Multi-Disciplinary Team and Senior Service Management Team which includes highly-experienced and skilled registered nurses as well as dedicated support workers. We have also brought in specialists from Germany to facilitate training of our healthcare professionals. Over time, the service will be rolled out nationally – growing it to become a country-wide centre of excellence.

We’ve come a long way in understanding the condition, and our approach is testament to this. Recognising the unique needs of people with PWS, our new specialist division has been designed in line with best practice guidelines.
