Community Support Worker – New Ross, Co Wexford – 32 hour contract

in New Ross, Co Wexford
New Directions Offers individualised Day Service Support including leisure activities, education, employment opportunities and social skills, for adults who are transitioning from school or rehabilitation and training support services.
In New Directions, we are supporting young adults in their local community with skills teaching including:
• Accessing their community (local hobbies, services, public transport)
• Vocational Skills: Education/Work/Online Learning
• Leisure Skills & Social Skills
• Volunteering (Community Mapping, Tidy towns etc.)
• Independent Living Skills (Daily living skills)
• Cooking Skills, Social Farming and Gardening
• Learning to Drive/Using Public Transport
We are now inviting applications for
Full time permanent (32 hours)
Opportunity to supplement contractual hours through children’s outreach and adult residential services/children’s residential services if desired.
Typical Shift – 8 am to 4 pm / 9 am to 5 pm
No night shifts, no Sundays, no bank holidays
What we require
- A Full Drivers Licence is essential with access to your own vehicle
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Qualification in Social & Healthcare (not essential)
- Teaching advocacy skills for individuals with disabilities
- Skills or Qualifications in areas such as psychology, gardening, music and arts are welcome
- Experience and knowledge of supporting people with ID and autism
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
Your role will involve supporting people to develop and achieve life goals in areas such as
- Communication / Social Skills
- Education / Vocational Skills / Online Learning
- Leisure Activities
- Volunteering (Tidy Towns, litter picking, etc)
- Independent Living Skills (Daily living skills)
- Cooking skills, social farming and gardening
- Using public transport
